discriminating, discriminatory
Both words are related to the noun discrimination in two very different senses, and it is important to choose the right one. Discriminating, when used as an adjective, is appreciatory and means ‘showing good taste or judgement’ (will appeal to the discriminating buyer) whereas discriminatory is unfavourable and means ‘showing discrimination or prejudice’ (as in discriminatory attitudes, behaviour, legislation, practices, etc).
